**Breaking News ** Facebook is creating a cryptocurrency ** Will It Rival Bitcoin ? **

Earlier this week Facebook announced it was no longer allowing cryptocurrency adds or binary adds on its social media outlet.

The reason given for this action according to Rob Leathern ( Facebook's Product management director ),

“We want people to continue to discover and learn about new products and services through Facebook ads without fear of scams or deception."

"There are many companies who are advertising binary options, ICOs and crypto-currencies that are not currently operating in good faith.”

But was there another reason ? 

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg hints at adding his own cryptocurrency.

He belives that adding  "encryption or cryptocurrency", can add to Facebook users privacy. It will  "take power from centralised systems and put it back into people's hands".

 He continues,  "I'm interested to go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of these technologies, and how best to use them in our service. "

With the size of the user base on Facebook an official cryptocurrency for the social media site could be a big success. If ( I should say when ) Facebook decides to add its own currency will it rival Bitcoin ?
