Litecoin OR LiteWALLET ?

How do you preserve your Bitcoin and Litecoin in this market. It is July 15th and daily I'm watching my BTC and LTC become less valuable. I experiment shorting but always close out before a 5%+ drop. I buy and then there is a 10% drop. It is getting frustrating.

However, I am using Poloniex and learning all the options. While I'm losing some money on trades I am starting to turn it around. I'm learning to be more careful when to short on margin and take losses if it becomes a bad trade. However, the most important thing is I AM LEARNING.
