The release Bitcoin Core 0.14.1
The release of a new version of the Bitcoin Core 0.14.1 client, which is an updated and augmented version of the 0.14.0 release. The new version contains various bug fixes, software localization updates and improves client performance.
The new version of Bitcoin Core will allow customers who do not support the network scaling solution, known as SegWit, to function even after SegWit is activated throughout the network. Miners will be able to continue to extract blockchain in the old manner, thanks to the option that allows to exclude all SegWit-transactions. By and large, this function removes many problems with SegWit activation for those who it does not think is appropriate: the Bitcoin Core 0.14.1 version will still allow you to identify invalid blocks and create your own from transactions other than SegWit.
Another important update, present in the new version of the client, is to improve the memory settings. Bitcoin-nodes store the last changes in the buffer blockchain ("UTXO-set") in the buffer memory. As the information is constantly updated, this feature allows nodes to synchronize this information as quickly as possible. At certain times, these updates are "merged" into a disk for permanent storage. The Bitcoin Core 0.14.0 version showed some problems with estimating the necessary space on the disk to save data. In the Bitcoin Core 0.14.1 version, the memory state estimation will be performed more accurately.
In the development of the updated version of the release involved Henry Chow, Gregory Maxwell, James Evans, Peter Vulle, Vladimir van der Laan. The next version of the Bitcoin Core 0.15.0 release is expected in the fall.
