Yea, it's tough to use BTC for small transactions right now due to the fees and the volatility of prices. Lightning Network should definitely help...or maybe other alts will take the place of BTC for smaller transactions...
I think so, probably. I kind of think we'll be able to pay with any crypto we like, in the future. So it does not really matter which you use, they just have some different properties. There will probably always be Bitcoin maximalists and fans of 'the next Bitcoin' as well.. I doubt either side will definitively win at any point, therefore as long as a market cap remains we will be able to use it ...somehow.
