Don’t worry because as of today, we will start posting bi-weekly updates on our blog which will summarize our last AMA as well as all the news surrounding the project.

AMA Summary

Changelly

On the 8th of June, we announced a partnership with Changelly as well as a listing on their exchange. This partnership is very important to us for a few reasons but mainly as it reinforces our currency-agnostic vision.

Proof of Concept: Changelly + Particl Desktop

On one hand, this vision is reinforced as we are going to integrate Changelly directly onto Particl Desktop, our flagship wallet, which will allow anyone to buy, sell and trade goods and services on the Particl Marketplace using any coin supported by Changelly. As always, any non-PART transaction executed on the marketplace will still be automatically converted into a PART transaction so that the Marketplace dApp can make use of the RingCT capabilities of PART.On the other hand, being partnered with Changelly will most probably facilitate our integration with Changelly’s own partners such as Coinomi, CoinPayments, Jaxx, and Binance, only to name a few.The release of our Alpha Marketplace gave us more credibility as a project and the fact that we now have a working product helped a lot getting us listed on Changelly. We are confident that, as we keep improving our product, we will encounter many more positive opportunities like this.

RingCT

Our Bitcoin-based implementation of RingCT is currently being audited by the New Jersey Institute of Technology. As a big part of our vision has always been to be one of the most secure and scalable privacy coins, and especially as we keep seeing coins getting hacked or exploited because their mainnet code is being rushed, we’ve decided to be perfectionists with Particl. While this may incur delays or longer development periods, we believe it will go a long way to protect our users in the long run.We are excited to announce that the bulk of the report is now ready, and that the NJIT is making its last updates on the report to reflect the new version of our Bitcoin codebase (0.16). We can inform you that the code audit will be done and received by our team before the end of the month.According to the RingCT audit, we should be able to hardfork Particl to release RingCT on mainnet within 4 to 12 weeks from now. As with our roadmap, this is only an estimate and should not be regarded as a deadline.

BulletproofCT

Bulletproofs is a big improvement for RingCT as it will improve the mathematical method of hiding transacting amounts. As such, Bulletproofs will potentially reduce the size of the private transactions by ~80%, making the fees much lower as well as making the blockchain file size much smaller.The estimated time for the Bulletproofs improvement to be released on testnet is around 12 weeks* from now.*Paul mentions that the Bulletproofs dev meeting hadn’t happened yet so timeframe is speculative without further information.

Alpha Marketplace

The alpha Marketplace has been released with a working MAD escrow system and is available for testing.Testnet PART faucet is here: faucet.particl.xyz

Testers can use tPART to purchase real items like Particl t-shirts and have them shipped around the world!

Beta Marketplace

As we are building a completely trustless and decentralized marketplace, we identified the governance system as an absolute requirement for pushing the marketplace onto mainnet.We are announcing that in the previous weeks, a governance model has been theorized and approved for implementation. Carmen, our Product Owner, is currently working on mapping the governance user interface and should be done with it this week. With the governance model theorized and the UI done with, our developers will start building this system.The decentralized governance model will be explained by our Lead Developer, Ryno Mathee, during our next AMA/FAQ livestream on the 29th of June. Particl is an open source, decentralized privacy platform. Built for global person to person and business to person…particl.ioWe currently set the target for the release of the Beta version of our marketplace between 4 to 12 weeks. Once again, this should not be considered as a deadline but rather an estimation.Should the beta testnet version of the marketplace be satisfactory and secure enough, a mainnet version of the beta version could be released in the following weeks. In any other case, only the 1.0 version of the marketplace (post-beta) will be released on mainnet, we will keep you updated on that matter.Remember, privacy and security are paramount for us and we will never release a product that we are not confident about.

The Platform

As of today, the marketplace is the only dApp deployed on the Particl platform. Nevertheless, we have a few community members working on a second one which intends to become a private and decentralized webcam streaming application named HelenaX. We wish them the best success!We will soon be releasing a developer SDK (development kit) which will make it very easy for any developer to work on their own dApp. We do not have an estimate on that end yet, but we expect this release to be the catalyst that will draw more developers to our ecosystem.In the coming months and following the SDK release, hosting/organizing Hack-a-tons to reward the best and most interesting initiative built on the Particl platform will be something we would like to make happen.Examples of decentralized applications that could be built and potentially integrated directly into Particl Desktop include, but are not limited to, a decentralized exchange, a penny auction, or even a gambling dApp. Don’t forget that any of the Particl dApp can benefit from our crypto-agnostic abilities, meaning they could be powered by almost any coin.Of course, some of these dApps would need the approval of our legal team to be integrated into Particl Desktop, but that would never stop anyone from starting their own Particl wallet based on Particl Desktop and integrate whatever Particl dApp they want in it. As such, we believe that one day there will be alternative wallets with different sets of dApps in them.

Second fundraising

During the swap from Shadow to Particl, 996,000 PART have been locked up by the Particl Foundation for a second funding round.The second funding round will happen after the release of the beta marketplace and will not be a public offering, rather keeping it open to private investors as to not be classified as a security. The team plans to meet with the legal advisory firm we are partnered with soon to talk about this funding round and plan its parameters. Great care will be taken so that it is done following a legally sound strategy.The price of Particl is currently around $5, but the liquidity between the current price and the target price for the second funding round are pretty low in comparison to the amount we will be aiming to raise which makes us believe it won’t be an issue.

The coldstaking widget issue has been fixed and will be released with the next update of Particl Desktop.

Business plan and long term vision

The onboarding of vendors has not yet begun. We are planning on getting started on that end after the release of our Beta marketplace. We will be approaching them personally at conventions and in face-to-face meetings, as well as reaching out to as many online vendors as possible.

Particl Marketplace on Mobile and on the Web.

We have decided that, after releasing our 1.0 (post-beta) version of the marketplace, we will start working on an official mobile and web version of the marketplace which we believe will be essential to reach mainstream adoption. In the meantime, users will be able to use Mubiz as an intermediary to shop on Particl online and by using credit cards. Note that Mubiz will also act as an escrow agent and shipping facilitator.
