This is the right way to look on it
in the short term bitcoin will go up and down but in the long run i'm sure it's will be much more then the current price
If you look at the yearly highs and lows then you can notice that from 2013 to 2016 Bitcoin was almost flat and no significant bull move but in 2017 it made an epic move and in 2017 so many calls like bitcoin will hit 50000 or 100000 were aired by so many analyst.
What I believe is that what happened in 2017 may not be repeated every year and if at all it gets repeated we will have to wait till 2020/21. With that being said, I am not ruling out that we cant see a broad range price action of bitcoin, like 6000 to 15000 or so for some 2/3 years. I may be wrong but this is my own opinion.

You sound very reasonable. I've had similar feelings as of March of this year. No bull (like 2017) for at least another year-ish. Just keep filling those bags in the meantime!!
Absolutely friend and this is the perfect time to buy ( i mean to say for atleast 1 or 2 years one should keep on buying at 6k or 7k level should wait till 2020/21 to make it a big life time reward.
