Bitconnect users were only getting rich off of the referral scheme. This scheme gets more and more people to 'buy into' the organization. Schemes like Bitconnect are not sustainable in the long run.

For those who are financially invested in Bitconnect in some way, I would advise to take out any initial investments and put that money safely in a wallet or on your bank account. The rest is 'play money' that you can afford to lose. Cryptocurrencies are in their infancy and at this stage, most coins are still a gamble.
