Bitcoin vs BitcoinCash

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Hello Steemians,

Today the bitcoin fork is completed, and has split into two coins. The regular Bitcoin (BTC) and the so called BitcoinCash (BCH).

Everyone who had Bitcoins before August 1st 2017, got an equal amount of BitcoinCash. There are some exchanges which are not supporting the BitcoinCash, on those you didn't get anything, you just keep your Bitcoins. Exchanges like Kraken did the split, and credited all Bitcoin holders with an 1:1 amount of BitcoinCash.

In the case you have your bitcoins stored on a hot, or cold wallet, you will just need access to your privat key. If your wallet does not support BitcoinCash, you can download a wallet here: https://www.bitcoincash.org
After that you just import your private key into that wallet, and if you are a Bitcoin holder as of block 478558, then you are now owner of the equal amount BitcoinCash.

So far it looks like, that Bitcoin is still the primary coin, and BitcoinCash is more like an altcoin.

Sell them or hold them, that is the question!

Oh what a sad day that my BTC was stored on Coinbase!!! My guess is they get the BCC. I have an offline wallet also but never occurred to transfer and incur the fee. Guess I will chalk that up to could have should have would of. UGH

too bad :( but at least bitcoin is at a high price and you didn't lose them!
