Space Misfits Receives Investment to Push Development
Game studio Jade Stems Studio LLC has received an undisclosed investment to fund the development of their online game Space Misfits. So far the massively multiplayer online game has been in development for one year. Lending and investment firm Conejo Credit kept the investment secret in order to avoid leakage of features to the public.
Space Misfits is a science-fiction MMORPG. In this game players can explore the universe, gather resources, build ship components, command starships and battle other players. All these elements create an open in-game economy on the Enjin blockchain. As a result players can trade items with real value within the game itself.
This sandbox game doesn't have a story, but only provides a setting. Players will for example have to deal with corporate greed, space pirates taking down valuable loads or other players hunting each other. These elements provide enough story, one that's different for every player in the game's universe.
Currently Jade Stems Studio is in talks with several publishing partners. The game is in development for PC. However, potentially a release on console would also be possible.
Enjin and its multiverse
Space Misfits uses Enjin to tokenize its in-game assets. Enjin is completely aimed at gamers. Some assets on this blockchain are functional in multiple games, like for example a ‘wooden sword’. This item works in an on Enjin-build version of Minecraft, but also in the dungeon crawler Forgotten Artifacts and in Containment Corps. Nowadays there are dozens of items with their own multiverse abilities. Take an item called Stormwall, which has a function in more than 20 games.
Enjin has been pushing its technology in recent weeks. Last week the blockchain company announced the launch of the Enjin Platform. This is an software development kit that allows game designer using the Unity engine to tokenize their assets without ever do any programming.
At the moment there’s a wide variety of games already in development that embrace the tokenization of game assets and use Enjin. Think about Dissolution, Alterverse Disruption, 9 Lives Arena and many more.
