First details Trial of the Gods revealed
Game studio Immutable revealed the details about its first champion for Trial of the Gods, the first expansion for trading card game Gods Unchained. The expanion features six champions, new gameplay mechanics and has a focus on lore. Each champion has a Trial and a Triumph card. These are powerful cards that impact the late-game gameplay. They revealed these details in their weekly live stream.
Each of the six champions represents a certain god. Lysander, a follower of the Thaeriel a.k.a. the God of Light, is the first champion revealed by Immutable. At the moment Lysander is an Olympian, but that's something that might change over time. He gets stronger after friendly cards have been healed, while he regains his health at the end of the player's turn.
Immutable revealed a couple of cards, which are obviously subject to change:
- Athenian Guardian: Mana 2 - Attack 1 / Defense 2 - Frontline - If this creature has 3 strength or less, give it +1/+1 (Olympian)
- Vengeful Lokhagos: Mana 4 - Attack 3 / Defense 3 - Roar: give Chosen One ward and +1/+1 - not attack since enter, give it +1/+1. (Olympian)
- City Therapon: Mana 1 - Attack 2 / Defense 2 - Afterlife: Add two Injured Soldier cards to void. (Olympian)
- Injured Soldier: Mana 1 - Attack 1 / Defense 2 - Frontline - When creature enters the board, it takes 1 damage. (Olympian)
- Lysander, Champion of Light: Mana 6 - Attack 3 / Defense 7 - Frontline - Ward - Completely heal at start of turn. After heal on friendly creature, gain +1 strength. (Olympian)
- Trial of the Innocents - Mana 7 - End of turn: double strength of each creature + Afterlife: deal damage equal to creature strength, split randomly among all enemy creatures.
Gods Unchained: Trial of the Gods
Trial of the Gods is the first expansion for the play-to-earn trading card game Gods Unchained. In this expansion each of the gods has selected a champion that will fight in their name. Each of these champions comes with two powerful cards that tie into their story. In the case of Lysander, his Trial card is about overcoming an enemy attack and empowering his army, while his Triumph card has not been revealed yet. This Triumph card might has something to do with the spear he threw to kill a demon general, or with the divine intervention that prevent his certain death.
Trial of the Gods is expected to launch with a few months. The expansion will be an update for the game. Before launch Immutable will sell Season 1 card packs. These cards will only be available for a limited time. The Genesis season already sparked lots of interest. In December a one-of-a-kind card was sold for 31 thousand dollars (210 ETH). Future game mechanics will allow users to create limited edition cards from older cards, making existing cards more rare.
