Crypto games change name for mainstream appeal

Giving your game a name like 'Cryptokitties', immediately pushes the game into the geeky blockchain corner. That's why both MLB Crypto Baseball and Soccer Manager Crypto are both being rebranded. Both games will lose the word 'crypto' from their names in order to appeal to a wider audience.

MLB Crypto Baseball has been renamed to MLB Champions, while Soccer Manager Crypto is now known as Soccer Manager Elite. The world crypto is often associated with the bitcoin crash from 2018, ICO scams and other negativity. The developers of these two games prefer to have the blockchain technology run in the background, and slowly introduce players to the concept.

MLB Champions just launched a new season, and allows players to collect digital versions of all-star and current baseball players. This game is an official Major League Baseball product, and that makes the game even more appealing to fans. The real world performance of a baseball player will also influence its price, even though the rarity will never change.

Soccer Manager Elite makes players into club owners, where they buy ownership into a club, appoint managers and build the best team possible. This game is going into a closed beta testing phase soon.

Obviously these games have stiff competition. It's not likely that Soccer Manager Elite will dethrone Sports Interactive's Football Manager. However, both MLB Champions and Soccer Manager Elite do provide true ownership and therefore the performances in these games have a real world value.
