CoinMarketCap.com Review - Is It Safe To Trust or Are You Being Mislead!
With cryptocurrencies being at the forefront of everyone's mind nowadays there are several platforms that a lot of us frequent on a day to day basis and CoinMarketCap.com happens to be one of them. CMC is one of the most popular and highly trafficked websites online in the cryptocurrency space.
By the mere fact that CMC receives so much traffic can be looked at as a good thing or a bad thing. This is a highly visible site that makes it very easy for advertising or selling a product or service as it relates to crypto to gain a lot of immediate attention. This could not be anymore truer with a lot of the HYIP programs you see emerging from the dusk. CMC takes no responsibility to vet any of the companies listed on it's site (in the listings or in regards to advertising).
You will need to be extra careful to make sure that you do your due diligence on the front end before joining or participating in any programs as it is 100% your responsibility to ensure that you have an understanding of what you are putting your money into.

you could be mislead by any cryptocurrency average price, since its just an average you can be mislead so you need to take that into consideration, bitcoin on 1 exchange may be selling lower or higher on another

I still use it due to the fast loading speed of the page. if you want something more precise try https://coincap.io/ its has live updated prices and just as good.
@jaycobbell I like coincap.io but sometimes when I'm looking for specific coins they aren't listed there, but when I go to coinmarketcap.com 9 times out 10 the coin is listed there.
So true, always better to research things for yourself and decide the best route from there.
@hfigueroa this way if things do not go right you always know that you did your homework on the front end and then you can feel 100% comfortable about your decision.
All though we all have to do due diligence, there comes a time that CMC also need to take responsibility for what they are give out as information. As more and more people view the site as an authority on the crypto market be it right or wrong, it will become their duty to start making sure the information they present are true.
@marcusxman I'm not sure how that will work out for CMC has it looks like a one or two man show. To try and vet these companies when even some of the best in the business who do not even know what to make of some of these companies/coins/ICO's will be a huge challenge.

There are so many sheep lead by wolves... I found out along time ago, I blame both the sheep and wolves the same way these days lol
@stackin you are correct that both share some responsibility in the matter as it takes both sides to tangle.
This is so true because most shit coins are there too , thus the need for a comprehensive DD ..always.

@charles1 will do. I do not like bots as it relates to Steemit as it should just be hard coded into the platform if they want to make changes.
It's also interesting because the market caps of different cryptocurrency varies based on what exchange you are using. This site should be used to give a general idea of what is happening in the overall space, but not necessarily as a reliable pricing gauge.
