As the unprecedented ransomware attack known as WannaCry  infect more than 200,000 systems across 150 countries. the group behind WannaCry has earned just over $55,000 from its internet. WannaCry is far and away the most severe malware attack so far in 2017.

What is it? 

This malware is a scary type of trojan virus called “ransomware.” As the name suggests, the virus in effect holds the infected computer hostage and demands that the victim pay a ransom in order to regain access to the files on his computer.

it works by encrypting most or even all of the files on a computer. Then, the software demands that a ransom be paid in order to have the files decrypted  the software demands that the victim pays a ransom of $300 in bitcoins at the time of infection. If the user doesn’t pay the ransom without three days, the amount doubles to $600. After seven days without payment, will delete all of the encrypted files and all data will be lost.

How can I protect myself from it?

whatever the operating system you run you should install any and all available security updates  Specifically, Windows users with machines that run Windows because window is the os used worldwide anyway even you use linux you are not safe

Cybercriminals are using a copycat version of WannaCry ransomware to target Android users

regardless of our development and new technologies  we are live in insecure digital world with all sorts of information stored electronically. Of course, there are many advantages to maintaining information in electronic form but our privacy becomes an illusion
