New Wallet Hack Found!

in #bitcoin7 years ago

It has just been released that Kaspersky Labs has found a trojan that uses the copy and paste command in Pc's to inject malicious addresses into your cryptocurency transactions. According to coin telegraph this trojan is called CryptoShuffle and it can steal coins from unsuspecting cryptocurrency users via a simple exploit. The program takes the address you copied and pastes a malicious address that will steal your coins instead of sending them to the location you intended. This is not the first time hackers have tried to find ways to steal coins and as the ecosystem grows so too will the occurrences of attackers attempting or succeeding in stealing coins.

Although this trojan is a bane for the crypto-community it is not a catastrophe. in order to avoid being victimized by this trojan there are two key things you can do. First is to make sure your virus scanner is up to date, so that it can intercept this issue if it is detected. If the virus protection fails then your next line of defense is to pay close attention to the address you are copying an pasting. This is because the trojan changes your send to address to the attackers so there would be a visible difference between the two addresses if you have been hacked.

Stay vigilant and don't let your coins fall easily into the hands of predators!
