Venture Capital vs ICOs

El lunes por la tarde, tuve el placer de asistir a una conferencia en el Club Financiero Génova sobre criptomonedas. El club está en pleno centro de Madrid, en la plaza de Colón, y tiene unas vistas impresionantes. Es a la segunda conferencia que voy allí y se respira un ambiente muy bueno y se conoce gente con inquietud en las criptomonedas.

On Monday afternoon, I had the pleasure of attending a conference at the Génova Financial Club about cryptocurrencies. The club is in the heart of Madrid, in the Plaza de Colón, and has stunning views. It is at the second conference that I go there and a very good atmosphere is breathed and know people with restlessness in cryptocurrencies.

El tema sobre el que se debatió esta vez fue si es mejor que una nueva empresa es mejor que busque financiación a través de Venture Capital o que haga una ICO. El debate estuvo bien porque se habló de las ventajas y desventajas de ambas y sobre todo de la falta de regulación en las ICOs de las que mucha gente habla.

The issue that was discussed this time was whether it is better that a new company is better to seek financing through Venture Capital or to do an ICO. The debate was good because they talked about the advantages and disadvantages of both and especially the lack of regulation in the ICOs that many people talk about.

Estuvieron hablando sobre las bondades de Bitcoin y Ethereum y cuáles son los puntos fuertes y débiles que puede pasar en un futuro no muy lejano. Más o menos había consenso entre los ponentes, todo más estaban de acuerdo de que las criptomonedas han llegado para quedarse.

They were talking about the benefits of Bitcoin and Ethereum and what are the strengths and weaknesses that can happen in the not too distant future. There was more or less consensus among the speakers, all the more they agreed that cryptocurrencies are here to stay.

Finalmente llegó el turno de preguntas y hubo preguntas de todo tipo, aunque la que hizo mi amigo @romangt87 sobre las comisiones de Bitcoin que hay últimamente con la guerra que se está viviendo con BCH y el no fork. Era complicada y no hubo consenso en las respuestas. Esperemos que pronto volvamos a las transacciones baratas, es lo que queremos todos.

Finally the question time came and there were questions of all kinds, although what my friend did @romangt87 about the Bitcoin commissions that there is because the war that is being lived with BCH and the no fork. It was complicated and there was no consensus in the answers. We hope that soon we will return to cheap transactions, that is what we all want.

Después de esto, disfrutamos de unas cervezas, vinos y aperitivos y que estuvimos hablando toda la gente y el tema de conversación era, como no podía ser de otra forma, las criptomonedas.

After the conference, we enjoyed some beers, wines and snacks and we were talking with all people and the topic of conversation was, how could it be otherwise, cryptocurrencies.
