Bitcoin Private is Alive - How to Claim Your Coins

We had the snaphot of the BTC and ZCL blockchains a few days ago. In the meantime Bitcoin Private (BTCP) went into service.

You can download a full (QT) and a light (Electrum) wallet from btcprivate.org, as well as Coinomi should also be available. I don't use the latter, so I can't comment on this. I downloaded the Electrum Wallet, it's rather big (215MB, so the devs left probably a lot of debug code in it. Should get smaller next time. Anyway, just download it, extract the archive and put the .exe somewhere you can find it again. I put it in a new Electrum-BTCP folder under Program Files and put a shortcut on the Desktop. There is no installer! At first start it will create a new wallet and necessary structure by itself. On first run select the option to import private keys.

What I've done is exectly that, importing the private key from my ZCL wallet and that went through without problems. To get the PK from ZCL depends on your wallet, if you used Electrum ZCL, then look under addresses and see which one(s) had balance at the time of the snapshot. Right click on it, select Private Key, type in your password and copy the key, that is shown shortly after.

This private key you now paste into the Electrum BTCP wallet and the import should just take a blink of an eye, after which your new BTCP balance will be shown.

Very important to note: Before you import the private key with balance on snapshot date, move all remaining funds on that address to a new one, with a new PK. Then use the old one for the import. Thus you keep your existing funds secure.

The exact same procedure should also work for BTC, but I haven't tried that yet. I will move my BTC to a new address at a later date when I will also retrieve all the other forked BitShitCoins.
