Alphabay Takedown - We’re not sure how they did it, but the government has taken down the drug marketplace Alphabay. Alphabay, protected by Tor and anonymity had created the world’s largest dark market, more than 20 times the scale of the Silk Road with more than 300,000 listings and an estimated income of more than $800,000 every day. Frustrated would be dark marketers have been forced to smaller sites like Hansa and Dream Market who are unable to handle the influx. Hansa has closed new registration and Dream Market is having trouble keeping their site up due to spam and phishing attacks. One of the alleged administrators of the dark market was found hanged in his Bangkok jail cell. The demand for “illegal” drugs in the United States and the World was unaffected.
Bitcoin Sign guy receives more than 6 Bitcoin, around $15,000 for his bold sign holding during a key point in Janet Yellin’s speech where she was announcing her refusal to audit the federal resevere. Almost as a perfect counterpoint, Bitcoin Sign Guy held up his sign. His sign that said Buy Bitcoin. Because if you’d prefer a money system where you know exactly how many have been printed and how many will be printed. Then you prefer Bitcoin.
India has found a third way. Instead of Banning Bitcoin. Instead of Regulating Bitcoin. They’re going to tax bitcoin. Bitcoin, which is now perfectly legal in India, will be taxed with a goods and services tax the same way that Gold is taxed inside the Jewel in the Crown. Traded on regulated exchanges, with an attempt to crackdown on illegal activity, with nothing but taxes for law abiding citizens. The future of Bitcoin. In India.
