Espers Releases Mobile Wallets (Link to Espers contest inside!)
Keeping up with the road map but with a slight delay, the Espers coin team finally released the Android & Web wallets! (iOS wallet pending approval).
- You can find a link to the Web wallet right here!
- You can download the Android Wallet here! This is an APK install file, the release on the google store will be done soon!
- CafeConTiki joined the official team as the Head of Marketing.
These wallets where released to make easier to move your balances around without having to download and sync an Espers node in your computer and/or keep your money in locked an exchange.
The work has already started in the next milestones of the road map. On the Espers blog this is what they say about each of these features and their importance for the development of the coin.
- X-Nodes
X-Nodes are not to be mistaken with Masternodes. Masternodes are a centralized system where users lock a specific balance to participate in additional network features and support them. After a certain timeframe, those users are rewarded with some of the generated coins from the next block if they qualify.
Instead X-Nodes are completely opt-in. This means any community member may participate in the system regardless of their current balance or previous experience. This ensures that the decentralization aspect of the Espers project and blockchains in general is not lost strengthening the overall network.
- Side-Chains
Side Chains are a way to process more data while alleviating network load from any particular parent chain. Many approaches require the main chain to interfere with the Side-Chains directly which has the Side-Chain fully reliant on the main chain. ESP’s approach is to have the Side-Chains remain capable of functioning completely independent. Using a Cross-Chain Interface to transmit data from one blockchain to another allows each chain the ability to distribute workloads while remaining exclusive.
- Mailing System
The Mailing System is our answer to fix the problem of private keys being attached and sent over a blockchain. We plan to complete a system that sends the actual message. It will achieve this by storing raw text on a block which will be sent to the recipient. The benefit of this is it will be more secure than any other mailing system because it must be validated via the blockchain when received. ESP plans to also allow anything from basic images, to compressed files and documents to be sent. To accomplish this, the previously mentioned Side-Chain system will be implemented with ESP being the catalyst for the text data processing as it will be the parent chain.
I plan on writing a small review of these features in the next few days and touch on some important point of the whitepaper, i'm really looking forward for future developments of the project to further advance on our quest to a decentralized internet! Make sure to enter the contest! Huge amount of coins up for grabs!
Odd... I don't understand the blob about the messaging system. What problem are they referring to of people sending private keys over the wire and how does sending it in plain text solve it?
Side chains using cross chain communication protocols is a cool idea, that seems to be the main thing? But then I'm not sure... What benefit does the side chain have vs just some completely independent blockchain that also can communicate with the cross chain protocol?
I'm trying to see what the main differentiator is in terms of structure hmm...
I'm planning a post where I go deeper into the 3 main points based on the information found on the whitepaper.
The main objective of the project is to have websites on the chain to have less vulnerability to ddos attacks and the side chains are there to basically prevent too many websites from bloating the main chain, some sites will run on the main chain and some will run on side chains.
Centralization of the network won't be an issue since x-nodes allow every user to be their own "masternode" per se, I'll go deeper into the subject on the weekend probably.
Looking forward to it!
