Google Bans All Crypto-Related Ads
Starting June 2018 Google will ban all cryptocurrency-related advertising of all types. That is what they call an update to their Financial Services policy.
It is a joy to see centralized systems bursting rounds of shots at their own feet. Google is going to loose a good part of their revenues. But it's not the worst thing for Google, folks! There are many angry people who does not tolerate any kind of censorship, and this move really can't be interpreted like anything else. Just check the comments below this article or see this example:
Who here remembers when Google was new and cool, out to change the world by democratising information, shoving a middle finger up at the establishment. ‘Don’t be evil’ was the slogan. Damn, I couldn’t get enough of Google in those days.
Sadly, Google sold out their values for a few more bucks and are now simply part of the establishment, an extension of the military-industrial complex. That’s why I don’t touch them with a barge pole anymore.— DogKick
But that's not the worst thing for Google, folks!
With this kind of “policy”, Google will induce faster work on projects like Substratum — an open-source network that allows anyone to allocate spare computing resources to make the internet a free and fair place for the entire world. It's currently in beta.
You can add US to the mentioned video list (China, Russia, Iran) since December 14th and revoking net neutrality.
Now, Google already made their (previously excellent) photo search useless. Yandex.ru is currently far better in that field. But the fact Google are doing a great job on self-destruction does not mean we have a viable solution. So, what do you think? How long will be until someone make decentralized search engine which will render whole Google service useless?
Google scares me. I work at a school and this year our district put everything on Google.
We are learning how to use their tools for all we do with a computer. (Some of the tools are cool, but most are very irritating!) I hope something happens to stop Google, Twitter and Facebook censorship. It's all very SCARY!
Steemit happened, @karenps. Start teaching kids Steemit :)
Actually, I hate to say it, but you can do a lot more stuff with Google than Steemit! And, I don't know how long it will take for me to understand Steemit just for myself!
These are different tools, @karenps. And you are right, Steemit needs much more learning. But it gives back far more, so it's better to start as soon as possible :)
This must be a huge joke 😝
