Indonesia Finance Minister Allowed Bitcoin as Investment Vehicle

Latest press release about Indonesia’s government view on bitcoin and crypto market as a whole.

Last week, Indonesia Bank Central announced that Indonesian's Rupiah (IDR) will be the main and only currency and thus claiming any crypto currency payment as illegal.

However, latest press release from the country by the Finance Minister said that, “Bitcoin usage as a payment / transaction instrument is strictly forbidden. However, the use case for investment instrument is given back to the people with some notes from government regarding the bitcoin investment risk.” Meaning, they allow bitcoin as investment vehicle.

There’s also words that Indonesia’s derivative exchange and the derivative regulators are studying the prospect of listing Bitcoin Future Index as a new investment instrument.

With this we can be sure that Indonesia will try to regulate the crypto market, and possibly searching a way to tax crypto transactions, but the ban on crypto trading can be said as “Will never happen.”
