How Bitcoin is heating a home for freesteemCreated with Sketch.

As you know, mining cryptocurrency requires a lot of energy. When you use an electronic device, a part of the electricity you use is dissipated as heat. With cryptocurrency mining rigs, the amount of heat can be very concerning: if the GPUs (or ASICs, depending of what you are mining) are too warm, they can be damaged. Furthermore, it can make the room temperature very uncomfortable. That is why a more or less cooling system is often needed. Small miners use some fans or watercooling, whereas big miners use more elaborate cooling systems.

But what do you do when you live in a cold area? In Siberia, an entrepreneur had a simple but smart idea: using the heat produced by Bitcoin miners to heat a small home. Thus, the heat is not wasted.
