Yes, your job is bullsh*t. Don't get into trading because of it.

Yes, your day job is probably a bullsh*t job.

Ok, now that we've given you that shocking truth, if you are involved in crypto in any way, sit back, take a deep breath, and pay attention to what we're going to say next. It's important.

An anthropology professor at the London School of Economics recently published a book titled "Bullshit Jobs: A Theory". Here's just one quote from the book:

"Huge swathes of people spend their days performing jobs they secretly believe do not really need to be performed"

The book came as an extension to an article that the professor had previously published. We recommend you read it. Here it is:

As we had previously covered in one of our articles, from some of our research, it turns out that people only have a handful of main reasons why they got into the crypto space. Two of the main ones were 1) Living a better life since you'd have more money, and 2) Sick of your day job and you want to get rid of your dependence on it.

So these very understandable motivations drove a LOT of people into the crypto space, many of them in November and December of 2017 before the crash. What happened to these people? Yes, you guessed it, they got burned badly. Why? Because they most probably jumped in without doing a rational self-assessment of their personal and financial situation and also of the crypto space itself.

eToro recently stated that about 80% of people trading in cryptocurrencies on the platform have had zero previous knowledge or experience in trading and/or finance. Ya, you read that correctly, 80%.

The sad reality is that most of these people will lose money. Think about it, most day traders on Wall Street lose money, and they have had years upon years of training and experience and they operated in a market much, much, much less volatile than the crypto market. Do you really expect people with ZERO knowledge of trading and how assets and forex and commodities work and minimal knowledge of the intricacies of the coins they're trading to be able to make handsome profits?

Yes, statistically you probably and most likely have a bullsh*t job that is not providing enough income and/or meaning to your life. Trust us, most people are in the same boat.

The reason we're confirming that you probably have a bullsh*t job is this: once you accept that that's likely what your situation actually is and that it's not unique to you and that that's what most people in the world are going through, you can make more rational decisions.

For those of you who have amazing day jobs, make great annual income, or have solid knowledge and experience in trading, more power to you. For those of you who DON'T fit into any of these categories, here's our advice:

  • Understand and accept that cryptocurrency will most likely NOT change your life 180 degrees, save you from all your debt, make you a millionaire, or get you a lambo, at least overnight!
  • Understand and accept that most traders (stocks or cryptocurrencies) lose money.
  • Understand and accept that trading (particularly day trading!) can be VERY addictive and can ruin your life in many ways.
  • Stay away from trading cryptocurrencies until you have AT LEAST cracked open a book about technical analysis or went through a short online course teaching you the basics.
  • NEVER, ever, ever, ever trade with more money than you are willing to lose.
  • NEVER, ever, ever, ever follow someone's advice to buy/sell a coin blindly. There are a lot of great analysts out there who know their stuff and who are successful traders, but at the end of the day, if you lose your money, that wouldn't be on the person who gave you the buy/sell advice: it would be on you! So always.do.your.own.reasearch.

Yes, you most likely have a bullsh*t job. And that's ok! Really! Do not go into crypto trading just because you're sick of your job!
