The First One Through The Door Always Gets Shot
The only thing keeping Bitcoin at the top right now is the fact that it's propping up the rest of the industry. Getting into the crypto-world is really hard without bitcoin because almost every single fiat exchange is for bitcoin but ether is slowly threatening bitcoin's dominance as the first step into cryptocurrencies. Ripple however will be the premier fiat gateway because it's already got a direct connection to banks, something no other cryptocurrency has. Both of these coins will overtake Bitcoin before the year is out. Segwit or not, Bitcoin has reached its maximum. Thank you Satoshi for delivering this blockchain technology to us but we're moving on to better tech.
IOTA definitely boasts the best tech on the market right now. No blockchain in the traditional sense, no scaling issues, it's quantum proof and no transaction fees. This is everything that we want from BTC and will probably never get.
Mining community, thank you for your investment in the network but you have to see that mining currencies wastes a lot of time and resources. We're trying to create a new world, a world where, ironically, money won't be as necessary anymore. Ultimately, crypto is not better than fiat because it's all just zeros and ones on a screen. Their real value is imagined. If you are ever in doubt as to whether something you own is valuable, think about how useful it will be in the event of a zombie apocalypse.
Human greed is still a factor though. Just like the barons that rule the land, early investors are hoarding as much currency as they can and until my cocaine dealers starts accepting crypto, it's gonna be a while before I spend any of my coins either.
Monaco is about to make spending much easier. Crypt-cards are the next wave of coins to enter the market but most of them are feeling too cool for Africa. Like, what the fuck guys? All that you have to do is slap a postage stamp on them and send them our way. If the authorities ask, we'll tell them that they're not money cards; they're commodity cards. Niggers use cryptos too, you know.
Oh, and have you seen what Dubaicoin is up to? Yowzer!

Up voted but I cannot say that I agree with everything you said. However one comment in particular resonates with me with regard to the mining community. I feel like its a race to the bottom on who can burn more electricity and GPUs.
Hopefully they'll see sense eventually and buy actual cryptos instead of mining rigs.
Do tell, what don't you agree with?
I read your post again and it made me laugh again. Particularly the bit about Africa since that is where I am from. I believe that Bitcoin will hang around as a reference standard for a long time to come. But it will not be used much for transactions. Too slow and expensive, like nobody pays for stuff with gold coins and yet they still have value(even in a zombie apocalypse). When the Greek banks stopped dispensing currency Bitcoin still worked (no zombies though..)
I like ripple too. It has real promise if the banks embrace it.
You're right about BTC sticking around. There's way too much already invested for it to just die off. Thanks for reading, and remind those developers that African's want in on this revolution too. Hell, we should probably just create our own and give them a run for their virtual money.
Ha ha we are Africans. Never say money and run in the same sentence! :)
