$20,000 worth of bitcoin hacked ! And was captured in a recording!

NOTE: I am not a bitcoin expert. While watching this video I remembered the thing that I read in an article that never and ever leave large amounts of coins in any exchanges such as bittrex , poloniex , cex and etc.

Shayne the victim in the video thought the hacker might have been a bot or script program because it worked very fast to sell his altcoins at spot price and what shocking is the hacker even managed to withdrew the bitcoins after each sale. Shayne described, shows the trader continuously stopping open orders and trying to remove the remaining digital assets held on Bittrex. Every time he tried to cancel the order the hacker or bot was able to resume selling the remaining digital assets, but Shayne was able to recover 4 BTC in the end.

Protect your API keys

Never let others see your API keys. As a developer I can say that that is a very wrong thing to reveal digital assets to the general public via social media, forums and youtube videos. It can be a great target for hackers. So steemians be careful in sharing videos which shows your digital assets such as API keys when you are trading using exchanges bittrex, poloniex, cex .

Where to store it?

I guess the safest place to put your bitcoin or other digital currency is in a hard wallet. However hard wallets are still limited in numbers. There are other wallets there to use such as online wallets, mobile wallets, paper wallets. Just in my opinion hard wallets are the safest.

Shayne promised himself that he will never ever store large amount of digital currency in any exchanges.
