In this process blockchain is divided in small parts and the block size and its limit is increased to a certain size , by removing unwanted signature data from Bitcoin transactions block size is increased. When the unnecessary parts are removed it frees up some space inside the block capacity within result this can add more transaction to the blockchain which will probably save time to confirm a transaction.
