Ethereum: New ASIC - New mining

in #bitcoin7 years ago

The world-famous manufacturer of mining equipment Bitmain plans to develop and launch special ASIC-miners for Ethereum mining. The new miner will be called Antiminer F3, it will have three motherboards with six ASIC processors in each, thirty-two DDR3 memory cards, one Gigabyte each, and a dynamic memory of 72 Gigabytes. Hash-rate of the new machine will be about two hundred and twenty megahashes per second, it will be on sale already in 2018, and will cost two and a half — three thousand dollars. Now the etherium is produced on GPU-equipment — AMD video cards. The crypto community is divided in opinions: some are indignant that the new machine will reduce profits from current production to zero, while others are confused by this statement as the Ethereum plans the transition to the algorithm Proof-of-Stake, where it matters not equipment, but the number of coins/tokens on the user's account. Currently, Bitmain produces ASIC-miners for the production of bitcoin, Litecoin and, more recently, Siacoin.
