₿ Crypto Fun Fact #1 ₿
Hello. This is my blog series "Crypto Fun Facts." Here I will talk about interesting facts about the world of cryptocurrencies. If you enjoy this post, please upvote this post, resteem this post, and follow my account for more awesome facts.
Recently many news sites and economists have been saying that Bitcoin is a waste of energy.
- theguardian.com/technology/2018/jan/17/bitcoin-electricity-usage-huge-climate-cryptocurrency
- cen.acs.org/environment/sustainability/Bitcoin-poses-major-electronic-waste/97/i11
- spectrum.ieee.org/energy/policy/the-ridiculous-amount-of-energy-it-takes-to-run-bitcoin
But many are fighting back, for some very simple (and not so simple) reasons
- Bitcoin takes about the same percentage of the world power consumption that US Christmas lights do of the entire year's US power consumption.
- Bitcoin power consumption is the same as the banking industries servers, and under a third of the entire banking power consumption (the banking power consumption does not even take into account card readers, their production, and the processing of credit payments!)
- And finally, economists are now saying that the quickly rising crypto industry is good for our current slow growing economy.
So what do you guys think? Comment your opinion, and what side of the fence you are on.
