A new study was released stating 6.2% of Americans own bitcoin

This is one of the larger studies of its kind, though admittedly still probably not nearly large enough to make a claim like they did above.

The study consisted of 5,000 Americans between the ages of 18 and 65+.

Some observations and thoughts...

I find that 3rd category especially interesting.

It says that 7.3% currently don't own any bitcoin, but plan on buying some.

Whether you think that number is high or low, the fact that they haven't purchased any says one of two things to me...

It says either they don't have the disposable income available currently to invest, or it says they don't know how to purchase given the current infrastructure.

Which means we still have much work to do!

As soon as we get bitcoin available for purchase from/on a traditional brokerage account, we will have solved this problem.

Going a bit further...

Digging into the report a bit more, which can be seen here by the way:

It says that when sorted by demographics, that 7.3% that plan to buy bitcoin jumps to 12% when factoring in young males only.

Young males love them some bitcoin!

Also interesting was that the second category, those that have never heard of bitcoin, jumps to 30% when sorting for middle aged females.

Middle aged females continue to be in the dark when it comes to bitcoin.

If this study is to be believed on a large scale, go out and ask your 10 best friends if they own bitcoin.

If one of them does, then we know this study is legit. :)
