Bitcoin Mining uses more renewables than just about any other industry

The Bitcoin Mining Industry is greener than most

The big knock against bitcoin lately has been it's energy usage.

Specifically it's carbon footprint.

The energy use can be acceptable as long as it doesn't leave a large carbon footprint, at least that is the narrative that is currently floating around out there.

Well guess what, the latest numbers from the Bitcoin Mining Council show that is already happening:

It already uses more renewable energy sources that just about every other industry.

In percentage terms, it already does better than just about every country on the planet.

The only question now becomes, when will Elon Musk announce they are accepting bitcoin again due to more than half of the mining being done by renewable sources.

I'm suspecting the announcement will happen next week.

Though it will be interesting to hear how much he trusts those numbers from Michael Saylor and co.

Sort:

It seems everything using more energy than a small country.
