What counts as a SegWit transaction?

I am trying to reduce my mining fees - as they are just way too high to ignore them nowadays.
For example if you use Jaxx mobile wallet, right now it is charging - with normal urgency - 0.006824 BTC or 113 USD for a single transaction, even if you want to transfer BTC to a SegWit address.
Old bitcoin addresses start with prefix 1, SegWit addresses start with prefix 2 or 3, easy to recognize.

Three options possible :

  1. Transaction sent from a non-SegWit address to a SegWit address
  2. Transaction sent from a SegWit address to a non-SegWit address
  3. Transaction between SegWit addresses

Option 2 and 3 are SegWit transactions, option 1 is a non-SegWit transaction.
SegWit will more than double the currenct transaction capacity of the Bitcoin network, it is a free upgrade and does not involve security risk. If you want cheaper transactions, upgrade to a SegWit enabled wallet!

You can see here which wallets support SegWit addresses: https://bitcoincore.org/en/segwit_adoption/

Currently around 8.5% of all transactions are SegWit transactions, we will see this number growing.
