Representatives of one of the most popular Bitcoin wallets Blockchain.info reported that full support for the Segregated Witness (SegWit) protocol will be implemented in the first quarter of 2018. At the same time Bitcoin Cash (BCH) altcoin support will be added.

The SegWit protocol was activated in August this year, but a number of services and companies have not yet implemented it into their codebase.

Against the backdrop of a crowded spam-transaction of a mempule and an unprecedented growth in commissions, the representatives of the bitcoin community have recently begun to appeal to large companies like Blockchain.info, Coinbase and BitPay with questions when this happens.

The official answer Blockchain.info was given on Wednesday, November 15, and although it talks about the upcoming support of SegWit, some points in the statement of the British company raise questions.

'In 2018, SegWit support will be added to our wallets. Part of our code base will undergo a major and complex update, which will affect a wide range of platforms and devices. In potential this can have big consequences from the point of view of the privacy of transactions, the volumes of which are billions of dollars.

We will do this carefully and taking into account the increased commissions of the miners. We are encouraged by the opportunities that SegWit offers, and we plan to add full support for [the protocol] in the first quarter of 2018, 'Blockchain.info said in a statement.

At the same time, the company notes a steady demand for Bitcoin Cash and plans to add full support for altcoyin. Until the end of 2017 BCH will appear in the web version of the wallet, and until the end of the first quarter of 2018 - in mobile applications for devices on Android and iOs.

However, the most intriguing in the application of Blockchain.info was the part devoted to the SegWit2x hardfoot. Recall, company CEO Peter Smith was one of the six supporters of SegWit2x, on whose behalf last week a statement was issued to cancel this hardforka.

'Despite the fact that the plans for hardforks were suspended, at block 494,784 there may be some instability in the network,' the company said.

There are no explanations, what kind of instability can there be, as well as its causes, but not given.

'We will closely monitor the network. If its instability poses a threat to the means of our users, we can suspend bitcoin transactions for a short time, but we believe that this will not last more than one hour, 'the company added.
In October, support for Segregated Witness was added by the popular ShapeShift platform, encouraging other companies in the crypto industry to follow suit.
