Well hypothetically that makes Bitcoin ownership illegal. Well in almost every country. If it has laws against the possession and distribution of images of child abuse you can be screwed.

well, btc started thru the back door. in other words silk road made btc valuable. silkroad was in the deep web, and from the moment btc came to be, snuf, kiddie porn, ect was easy to get. The one thing these fools did not know is that btc is no longer anonymous. It has not been for a while. so it really has no true value except what others are willing to trade for it. And as you can see.... Its dropping while all other cryptos (with the exception of ether, and that is probably because of the coinbase glitch that allowed people an infinite amount of etherium for free) go way up. Bitcoin is old and outdated anyways. Time to say adios to that dinosaur anyways. now its probably monero and zcash that pedos are using.

This is so FUD, I've been noticing The Gaurdian puts out very vauge stories and articles like this where everyone in crypto sees it as FUD but everyone outside crypto sees it as illegal blackmarket activity, etc.

scammers exist in all markets.One must do his/her own due diligence before sending your bitcoin anywhere.One must take responsibility for his/her own investment choices and not get derailed by fud.Great post!

This is old news- this was discovered 6 years ago. This 'new study' is just rehashing things that are already known.
**First, this is hashed data (so you need special tools to view it, assuming you download a copy of the entire blockchain, and could even locate the blocks).
**Second, the arbitrary (i.e. non-transactional) data is capped at around 100bytes.
**Third, this is just URLs leading to (mostly long ago taken offline) darknet sites, not even visitable from a regular browser (you'd need something like Tor).
**Fourth, very few users of BTC host the full blockchain.
So, while it is less than ideal, it is old news, and not 1/1,000 as bad as the media is portraying it to be. They make it sound like there are child abuse images all over the blockchain.
It sucks, but is generally pure FUD-mongering.
