Ledger now integrates Woleet Data Certification Tool
The French company Woleet offers time stamped proof of existence solutions on Bitcoin blockchain, for any type of data. She is now releasing a version of her specific application to the well-known hardware portfolio, the Ledger Nano S.
Woleet is known for its data anchoring application, which allows any data set to be associated with a Bitcoin transaction. By adding the digital fingerprint of the data to a transaction, the user has a proof of existence that is irrefutable, time-stamped, censorship-resistant, immutable and publicly available.
The process is based on the proof format Chainpoint (which is open source): this standard makes it possible to aggregate different digital footprints within the same transaction using the Merkle trees. It was possible to use Woleet's services via the web interface or through the corresponding API; from now on, the user can directly certify his digital documents thanks to an application integrated in Ledger's hardware wallet, the Nano S.
The files will be digitally signed via the cryptographic key pair of the device owner. The first step is of course to create an account on Woleet ProofDesk, the dashboard of the service.
After installing the application via the Ledger Manager, the procedure is very simple:
° Click on the "Sign with your Ledger Nano S" button;
° Unlock the Nano S;
° Start the application Woleet.ID: the hash data will be visible on the device;
° Confirm the signature.
This integration is another step towards the democratization of these new data certification tools, which are much less expensive than traditional processes and totally decentralized.
