RE: Your Bitcoin, ETH, STEEM, and other Crypto are NOT stored securely.

in #bitcoin6 years ago

if your bitcoin is seized from cold storage you are an idiot
cold storage is pointless without securing the keys away from your person
quantum computing is a moot point and displays a complete lack of understanding of technology as soon as quantum computing becomes a reality so does quantum mining

your statement on the possibility of breaking a private key by special means used by government officials further shows how little you understand

the strength of security in a bitcoin private key is thus

"if all the computers in the world were dedicated to breaking a private key it would take a thousand years to break unless they get lucky and chance the ratio of 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/1

i.e emp proof safety deposit box

funny all the bullshit lies you state on cold storage and you are trying to promote your referral link to a hardware wallet that has a terrible track record for security and in being forthcoming once bugs were discovered

**with researchers calling the bitfi "storage device" nothing more than a broken down android phone **

its no surprise you are on the frontpage shoveling more shit to unknowing users so you can get paid

Bitfi finally gives up claim cryptocurrency wallet is unhackable

I think you missed the point.
No, actually, you're just inaccurately stating what the article states.

The articles makes no claim of a private key being breached; rather, the cold storage can be breached. Once in, the key is accessible.

As for Bitfi, yes, the device can be hacked just like a cold wallet. The point is, hacking a Bitfi means nothing. There is no private key within. Breach a cold wallet, and the key is yours.

Let me know which assertion is a lie.

here is the part on which you lie on private keys being breached

"The problem with cold wallets lies in their very purpose: holding the private key. The government, with near-infinite resources, has tools in forensic labs to extract all private keys on these devices in seconds. And, if a very sophisticated and costly cold storage machine is being used with very high encryption (like an air-gapped computer), while a person may sit in jail, unable to transfer funds, the encryption on the wallet could age in relevance to decryption technology. It is just a matter of time before the government will breach the wallet and access the private keys."

btw the safest means of storage is a paper wallet in many pieces

also noone should ever store any significant amount on any mobile device especially not anything android based

the most secure tried and tested hardware wallet is trezor
https://trezor.io/

better to stick with old reliables than taking a chance on at best an incompetent development team at worst scammers with backdoor protocols

Alright, not sure which part of this you don't understand.

The private key is NOT being cracked. Cold storage, which contains the private key, is being hacked. Once the cold storage is breached, the privaye key is exposed.

Again, the Bitcoin network is not being compromised. Hardware wallers used to store it can be. Even Bitfi, the hardware, can be cracked. However, it does not store the private key so there is nothing to take.

you dont understand

paper wallet = cold storage impossible to hack

for hardware confiscation is needed and using a handheld device is the lowest security with the highest risk for loss/theft
