When bitcoin dumps hard, can you guess what we might be seeing sometime in January 2018 ?
I will give you a hint:
- July 2017 - Bitcoin fell from a high of around $ 2,600
- Sep 2017 - Bitcoin fell from a high of around $ 4,900
- Dec 2017 - Bitcoin fell from a high of around $19,700
I can't wait to see what new "high" we fall from in January 2018 or February 2018
...
In my opinion, often when Bitcoin falls from a "new high", it re-gains strength up again even higher. Now I know many traders will say "this is normal". Yes... but with new unexplored highs of Bitcoin, you have to wonder where we are going next for the new highest price of Bitcoin ever!... :)
What could be the reason for the large sell off we're seeing in the later part of December?
-- Oh I don't know. Christmas, New Years, partying and having fun? -- Pulling out of the market only getting ready to get back in again after we sober up in the new year?

Excellent points in there, thanks for underlining the historical aspect of it. For the ones who have been following BTC since its inception, it is no news, but for the newcomers this may be causing them to be train wrecks! This information will help them cope... Till February! ;)

I think Bitcoin's time is over and have sold mine last week before the drop and moved on to coins that work better.
Always this stuff is a gamble, and I appreciate having made a shitload from Bitcoin, but we always have to be ready to move on to the next big thing - cryptos are not about the past.
Give it three months, and revisit this - yes I'm betting against you :)

I heard a rumor that several of the large cloud mining companies got together and all pulled large amounts out to trigger the fall because they alway's get many new customers right after one. But that's just a rumor....
That rumor doesn't sound plausible to me. They like to sell their mined coins constantly as the price of Bitcoin is up because they also share in the profits of their own mined coins too. (They don't just make money off subscriber fees). Infact, I have yet to see a long term (5+ years) cloud mining venture that has made it. Most of them are only 1-2 years old that I know of...
That makes sense.

The reasons don't matter. Usually whale traders wait for the smallest piece of news to trigger their sell off for profit taking just to get people saying "ooohh, what the media just reported explains why this happened".
