PayPal's CEO: we will certainly accept Bitcoin if it becomes "a better currency"

in #bitcoin6 years ago

The opinion of PayPal, or rather of its representatives, is at least contrasted concerning Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, blowing hot and cold.

While PayPal's former CEO categorically called Bitcoin a "giant pump and dump," Paypal's co-founder - Peter Thiel - spoke of Bitcoin as " digital gold " and considered it underestimated.

In an interview on CBNC , PayPal's CFO - Rainey Finger - was able to give us an example of "yes and no" in the space of a short speech on the topic Bitcoin :

"You may have something that appeals to consumers, but if merchants do not accept it, it does not have much value. At present, we do not see much interest in our merchants. But if it's something that stabilizes in the future and becomes a better currency, then we'll definitely accept that [Bitcoin]. "

Admittedly, the volatility of Bitcoin and cryptos is still significant, but instantaneous or almost instantaneous exchange rate solutions are beginning to exist, which greatly limit the risk of price fluctuations before the conversion of BTCs received into fiduciary currencies (€ / $).

We will remember especially the promise, or the admission, that is the last sentence of the financial director of PayPal: the future will tell if he lied or not on the fact that Bitcoin will be accepted as a payment currency in PayPal if the currency Digital gains stability.
