Today Bithumb, South Korean crypto exchange, reported about temporary work stoppage because of hacker attack. Losses from the actions of intruders cost about $30 - $31 Million dollars. The event that shocked the exchange users happened in the morning in Korea, and on Tuesday evening in the Western world. There is no official message, what currencies were stolen.

Bithumb still requests users do not deposit funds to exchange’s wallet addresses. There is no detailed announcement - it is only said that the exchange will provide stolen funds to unlucky users. Team has posted a twit about it, but then deleted this. That made people feel so insecure about their money, and maybe a manipulation.

Users shortly noticed that this happening looks like a self-thief action from Korean exchange. The latest news explains that there is a 30 billion won tax bill from the Korean government received by the team not so long ago. Another alternative version is more inclined to Bitcoin manipulations and playing with other assets, by following the interests of a small group of large investors.

Bithumb’s 24h Volume is $356.30 M and 5.35% share (7-th rank). To be continued…
