📌 Bitcoin ETN is now available for US investors
This new instrument tied to Bitcoin... can it be an alternate to ETF?
The Bitcoin ETN was added to the Nasdaq Stockholm stock exchange in 2015. Then investors could use CoinShares to purchase a note. Yesterday, Bitcoin Tracker One became available not only for European but also for American investors.
Many people (including Tom Lee) have already expressed the view that ETN can be a way out of the current situation regarding Bitcoin ETF. However, these 2 tools should not be compared without taking into account some details. Exchange notes are debt obligations of banks, the value of which is tied to the price of an asset, and the basket of these assets. Usually, notes are tied to futures or bonds; ETN also does not imply the purchase of Bitcoin directly, but it is also a related tool.
The main difference between ETN and ETF is that, in the case of a note contract, the bank is not required to purchase a key asset, for example, a cryptocurrency. However, the company undertakes to pay a certain amount.
Many experts are sure that the future of ETN is broad, or it can help to recover the market. However, the risks of notes, despite that they already tradable, are still not investigated.
