Russian hotels to accept payment in Bitcoin during World Cup Football
Football lovers will be allowed to pay their hotel bills, both accommodation and food, with Bitcoin during this year’s World Cup in Russia, to be held from June 14 to July 15.
Quoting hotels in Kaliningrad, media reports that hotels are expecting huge football fans from eight countries--- Spain, Belgium, Serbia, England, Switzerland, Croatia, Morocco and Nigeria.
Kaliningrad is the capital of Russia’s westernmost region, which is one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
To make payment process easier for the guests the hotels are partnering with a local payment provider, which will provide the service.
A hotel chain is learnt to have already teamed up with a payment processor to provide the service.
“As demand for cryptocurrencies is on the rise globally, we are sanguine they will gradually come into use as a means of payment,” said Anna Subbotina, manager of Apartments Malina.
“We are going to let the fans pay for our services with the help of this innovative technology”, Subbotina told Buying Business Travel Russia, expecting other hotels in the area to soon follow this.
