RE: Mine Crypto Anywhere with Your Computer - Home, Work, School. Simple Noob Friendly Guide

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Thanks for this! I read through all the comments and I'm just going to see how it works for me for several days before I try something else like NiceHash. Here's some info that someone may find useful: My PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1, AMD FX-8320 8-Core processor, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia 4gig Geforce GTX 760. When I am mining, the pc is using 125 more Watts according to my power supply. The GPU temp hovers around 60C, CPU temp is about 28C. Running a benchmark crashes the program, so I stopped trying to benchmark. Using "Smart Miner", it mines XDN and FCN, but I put some CPU cores on ETC and actually got a tiny deposit after less than 6 hours or so of mining ETC : 0.000009583208. Then I switched my GPU to ETC and left 4 CPU core each on XMR and FCN. Getting 5.15 MH/s GPU on ETC, about 85 H/s on 4 CPU cores each on XMR & FCN. It won't let me mine ETC and ETH at the same time. This might be interesting to someone that has more experience in mining.

After tying up my computer for a couple days with this and checking the MinerGate forums, I tried NiceHash and am able to make the equivalent of $2 USD per day in BTC with it. It ties up my computer also, but actually makes money. I am still mining Monero on my Android phones and tablets with minergate. After reading the minergate forum posts, it looks like there's just about no customer service, people are losing their currencies and getting hacked a lot. The only problem I had with NiceHash was my antivirus while installing: disable antivirus before installing and restore and exclude any NiceHash files that get quarantined.
