Due to the recognition of bitcoin as legal payment method in Japan, more and more enterprises and organizations are starting to include crypto currency in the list of supported options. The latest such example was the Kyoto based capsule hotel Comics & Capsule Hotel Comicap, the Bitcoin.com newspaper reported.

The addition of a new payment option was made possible by the cooperation of the operator of capsule hotels Runsystem Co. Ltd with the popular Japanese crypto-exchange Coincheck. The commission of bitcoin-service Coincheck is 1%. All payments are converted into yen, and then deposited into the bank account of the service provider.

Japanese capsule hotels are one of the formats of budget hotels. In the classical version, the room in this hotel is a small sleeping cell with an area of about 2 square meters, which are often located one above the other in two tiers.

The creation of such hotels, the first of which appeared in Osaka in 1979, was due to the high density of the population of Japan: with a much smaller territory, the number of people residing in the Land of the Rising Sun is comparable to the total population of Russia. There are such capsule hotels, as a rule, near major stations and transport hubs.

The largest hotel of this format today is the two-star hotel Green Plaza Shinjuku in Tokyo (designed for 660 rooms).

In March 2017, reception of bitcoin also started the Anshin Oyado Hotel in Tokyo, located near one of the world's busiest metro stations in Shinjuku. The cost of renting rooms here ranges from ¥ 4,980 to ¥ 6180 (~ $ 45 - $ 55).

And in early June, BITPoint Japan Co. announced the support of bitcoin in 1,400 hotels in Japan.
