Nice: It exchanges € 2 million Bitcoin against a counterfeit suitcase

A South Korean businessman visiting France was the victim of a counterfeit money scam. He traded 2 million euros of Bitcoin for cash, except that the bag contained only counterfeit notes.

As reported NiceMatin, a South Korean national thinking to carry out an interesting financial transaction went to France in the city of Nice to trade bitcoins for cash.

While he had an appointment at the luxury Negresco Hotel on the Promenade des Anglais to make the exchange, the South Korean was scammed and only recovered a suitcase containing a majority of counterfeit notes.

The hustlers have pretended to be representatives of a Luxembourg-based investment fund owned by a large Saudi royal family. Thanks to false documents such as the copy of a French passport and alleged bank guarantee documents from a Luxembourg bank, counterfeiters have managed to trick the Asian businessman.

When the South Korean saw the deception, he filed a complaint and a PJ investigation quickly arrested a 31-year-old Serbian man living in the Paris area. Giuliani J. has been indicted for fraud and for the possession of counterfeit notes, his accomplice is still sought.

The authorities do not think that they are dealing with a simple porter. Indeed, Mr Giuliani declares 1600 € per month but drove in a Porsche and wore a watch with more than 100 000 € around the wrist during his arrest.
