I mean how is this any different than any other mining industry. If the price goes to low, mines shut down as they can't compete. When price goes back up they are either reopened or new more efficient mines take their place. It's all just economics and weather people can make money doing something.
It's not. :) Well apart from the difficulty adjustment.
