[Facebook prohibits the announcements of ICOs and cryptocurrencies - including Bitcoin]

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Facebook has declared war on cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin. The social network has announced a new advertising policy that prohibits the advertising of cryptocurrencies and initial offers of currencies ("initial coin offerings" or ICOs), as well as services that "promote financial products and services frequently associated with deceptive promotional practices" .
In other words, in the social network they consider that the announcements of ICOs and cryptocurrencies are generally cheats or phishing with which it is sought to confuse the users. Facebook has accompanied the announcement with its usual good words, ensuring that they want their users to "learn about new products and services through ads, but without fear of cheating or fraud."

The ideal would have been to distinguish between those who make honest announcements about cryptocurrencies and those who do not. But of course, this would have required more staff to control the ads, and Facebook has shown with the theme of false news that its methods of control are quite disastrous.

A few weeks ago, Zuckerberg himself referred to cryptocurrencies and encryption as technologies that take power away from centralized systems and give it to users, although he considered that they came with certain risks that are difficult to control. Facebook represents those centralized systems that have the power, so it does not finish surprising its radical positioning either.
