Television industry seems to be catching up to the crypto world and slowly but surely trying to integrate phenomena of bitcoin and concepts of blockchain and decentralization on TV. In the past, I have seen various tv shows mentioning bitcoin in situations where bitcoin was given negative reputation and used by criminals, such as hackers demanding bitcoin payments, etc.

That approach is changing now, as more and more people getting aqcuinted with the bitcoin and blockchain technologies and understanding their true nature and positive benefits they can bring. Three days ago, I wrote a post how tv series Wisdom of the Crowd brought the concept of using blockchain technologies in social platforms to television. Today, I would like to talk about the latest episode of my favorite tv sitcom The Big Bang Theory (Season 11, Episode 9).

This episode of The Big Bang Theory which is titled The Bitcoin Entanglement dedicated the entire episode to bitcoin. I should say, the naming of this episode is pretty clever, which kind of combines concepts of quantum entanglement with bitcoin. The reason I think naming was clever is because both bitcoin and quantum entanglement are so real, yet the way they work is not so easy to understand by average people.

Quantum entanglement is a physical phenomenon that occurs when pairs or groups of particles are generated or interact in ways such that the quantum state of each particle cannot be described independently of the others, even when the particles are separated by a large distance—instead, a quantum state must be described for the system as a whole.

Even Albert Einstein had issues explaining quantum entanglement.

Albert Einstein referred to these sorts of quantum experiments pejoratively as “spooky action at a distance.”

This is not a science post, nor am I a scientist. Let's move on to the fun part and continue with The Bitcoin Entanglement. If you haven't heard or watched The Big Bang Theory before, I strongly recommend watching this sitcom. It is one of the best sitcoms ever made and is absolutely hilarious and entertaining. This show portrays scientist nerds and their everyday lives. It is such popular tv show, it is now in its 11th season.

The latest episode(Season 11, Episode 9) embraces the bitcoin and dedicates the entire show. I think it was motivated by soaring bitcoin prices. It looks like when this episode was filmed, bitcoin price was $5000. It was funny to watch characters were excited by bitcoin price reaching $5000 when bitcoin actually was trading at $10000.

It starts with the scene at the comic book store. Sheldon starts a conversation about an article about bitcoin, Howard points out how bitcoin is selling at $5000 now, Leonard and Raj remember that they all mined some bitcoins 7 years ago.
However, now they had no idea what they did with them. Excited about the idea they might be super rich now, they started remembering how they mined and start searching where they have stored them. As they continue their search, they discuss/explain bitcoin, mining, usage, etc in their own funny and nerdy ways.

First, they thought they mined bitcoin on Howard's laptop, they go and check Howard old laptop. Turns out bitcoins are not there; they remember that Howard's laptop kept crashing due to viruses caused by Howard's frequent visits to porn sites. Going down the memory lines, they realized they used Leonard old laptop. They go to Leonard's place and can't find his old laptop. Sheldon points out Leonard gave his laptop to his wife Penny, who gave it away to her ex-boyfriend. Leonard and Penny go to Penny's ex-boyfriend's place and retrieve the laptop with some old memories.

When they come back and check the laptop for the bitcoins, they find out wallet is empty. Sheldon starts laughing at his friends and starts explaining how he was running a prank on them since they decided to exclude him from the bitcoin mining. Seven years ago Sheldon transferred the bitcoins to Leonards flash-drive that Leanord kept in his keychain. Frustrated Leonard says, that he lost that flash-drive long time ago. The episode ends with showing Stuart, the comic books store owner finding the flash-drive and him planning to erase the contents, so he can sell it for ten bucks.

You can watch The Big Bang Theory at cbs.com or rent from various online streaming services.

That reminds of how many people lost their bitcoins because they didn't secure their wallets since at that time bitcoin wasn't worth much. This should serve us as a reminder to secure our Steem wallets, however little we might have in there. One day that little amount might be worth a lot.

It is interesting and exciting to see crypto topics brought to television. Let's hope this trend will continue and more and more people we get to know, join and take the benefits of what blockchain has to offer.

In conclusion, few thoughts on the price of Steem. While we have seen many cryptocurrencies going up in their prices, Steem has been sitting around a dollar for a few months now. I should be considered a strength because it shows how stable Steem can be as a currency. For me price movements don't matter much at this point. If it goes up great, my little investment paid off. If it goes down, even better. That gives an opportunity for low stakeholders to buy up more.

Thank you for reading. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Steem on!

Nice post thanks. It is a really good thing that popular TV shows like TBBT talk about cryptocurrencies. I think it is really important for people to understand how blockchain projects work because they are the future of internet. I hope we will hear more stories about it in other TV shows.

Something good for electronic currencies
the episode broadcast or not yet !!
