Listen to Andreas Tackle the Tough Issues in Bitcoin Today

in #bitcoin6 years ago

Andreas Antonopoulos is one of the great speakers and evangelizers of bitcoin. You should definitely have him on your YouTube subscription list. You can find that here.

How much does the community love Andreas? Well, it came out recently that Andreas is not a bitcoin millionaire. In fact, he just got out of debt. And he’s been supporting himself with Patreon donations. In response the community donated to him 102 BTC (as of this writing), which is now worth close to $2 million.

True to form Andreas continues to talk about the most controversial subjects in bitcoin today. Here’s what I’ve been watching recently.

In this video Andreas tackles bitcoin and energy used in mining, which is a controversial subject lately. He makes the point the energy use of bitcoin is very obvious, whereas with other technologies it’s more hidden. He used a credit card as an example. It might not take much energy to swipe the card, but do people consider the cost of running the data centers, the offices, and all the other resources to make that happen.

This next video is few videos rolled into one on very relevant topic today. Andreas talks about futures markets for cryptocurrencies.

The last video deals with the recent repeal of Net Neutrality. Andreas says this will have a big impact on the US and we’ll see nasty things happen with broadband providers. But it won’t undermine blockchains.

Buy bitcoin!!!

I buy on Coinbase and GDAX and I have a referral link.

Thanks a lot for sharing all of this important information! Well done.

As soon as I arrived at the elementary school where I was Teacher-On-Call today, someone shared with me the idea that Bitcoin was using a LOAD of energy... I underlined this flaw, as it is true, as well as its second main flaw, then mention how a fully decentralized platform such as Bitshares doesn't have any of such problems now and won't ever have to face this conundrum. They are simply not affected by either trading speed, as they are the fastest on the planet using the Graphene P2P decentralized network, and, thus, doesn't face any of this...

When people will wake up to such facts the wave over the Bitshares will be tremendous and astounding. I am glad to see the birth of this giant as we speak.

Namaste :)

The whole bitcoin uses too much energy myth will be debunked soon.
In fact bitcoin will help foster worldwide distributed renewable energy.

That's a great Comment I appreciate it @eric-boucher

Though a lot of the Bitcoin mining runs on coal, in China especially, it still uses way too much energy in itself as it stands.

The uprise of so-called renewable energies will greatly help the matter and, as it is not for a lack of funds right now, we should see the use of it becoming predominant very quickly. Most hopefully anyhow. :) Nevertheless, the use of the energy created by which ever means is growing exponentially in size and astronomical amounts of it is going to be needed to keep feeding the beast. I am sure you realize this, especially when you consider by comparison the slowing down of the transactions through the network, right? Fostering the rise and distribution of renewable energy doesn't in fact reduce the use of energy by the Bitcoin network. Its fostering has nothing to do with the energy used internally by the network itself. At a fraction of the same generated amount of energy, Bitshares and the likes, including Steem, EOS and so on, are being powered through the Graphene technology and able to propel the fully decentralized infinitely scalable network without slowing it down a iota.

Namaste :)

Net Neutrality...this should help cryptos such as Substratum that will bring a decentralized internet to users. Lets use the blockchain to bring the power back to people and away from centralization and corruption.

Great point... the current centralization will foster decentralization... it can't be stopped!

so much positive energy

Thanks for the info my friend @g-dubs

he is a great speaker

Time to separate state and money!

Nice Post at Steemit... UPVoted By @jimmyjemsx
UPVote My Comment Post...Thanks In Advance

Awesome...

Thanks for the information sir.

Thank you!

It's pretty ironic (in a good way) that increased control of the internet forces internet to be less controlled...

Agreed, that's why I love listening to Andreas. Blockstack a good example.
