如果你要硬分叉bitcoin需要多少钱？How much does it cost to hardfork bitcoin?

昨天有朋友问我，上次不是才刚硬分叉bitcoin cash出来，怎么又有bitcoin gold要硬分叉出来啦？是不是任何人都可以随便硬分叉bitcoin呢？

我想了一下，其实并不是任何人都可以随便硬分叉bitcoin，因为如果你没有算力，你分叉出来的新coin是没有价值的，我个人觉得，如果你要硬分叉bitcoin，你最少要有５％的bitcoin算力才有机会，不然的话，别人随随便便来一个５１％的攻击，你分叉出来的新coin立刻完蛋

好了，让我们来算算看５％的算力需要多少钱

现在bitcoin的总算力是 10,351,762,428 GH/s

你需要５％是 517,588,721 GH/s

再看看矿机是多少钱

就说我们买Antminer S9 好了，＄３０００美金有14 TH/s

那 517,588,721 GH/s 除 14 TH/s

你需要 ３６９７０ 个Antminer S9

也就是 ＄１００，９１１，７１４

差不多１亿美金的矿机你才能有５％的算力

所以呢，如果你有１亿美金买矿机，再加１亿美金在市场上顶住价格别让你的新coin暴跌你才能去硬分叉bitcoin

My answer to this question is no, because if you dont have the mining power to hardfork bitcoin, your new coin will have 0 value, because anyone can 51% attack your coin and your coin will be dead, so to hardfork bitcoin you need at least 5% of the mining power of bitcoin

but how much does it cost to have 5% of the mining power?

Let us do the calculation, as you can see, bitcoin mining power is now stand at 10,351,762,428 GH/s

5% is 517,588,721 GH/s

let say you bought Antminer S9 to mine it, which cost $3000 each and have a mining power of 14 TH/s

so you would need 517,588,721 GH/s divide by 14 TH/s

= 36970 Antminer S9

36970 Antminer S9 would cost you about $100,911,714

So as you can see, you would need at least $100 million to buy the machine for 5% of the mining power and you might need another $100 million to hold the price of your coin if everybody just start dumping your coin, so it is not anyone who can hardfork bitcoin but only a selected few can do it
