One payment channel, or many?

in #bitcoin6 years ago (edited)

It all started with a Roger Ver post: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@rogerkver/can-bitcoin-scale-on-today-s-computers-do-we-need-2nd-layer-solutions-to-compete-with-visa

And then a comment I made:

@kabir88 made a reply that he believes transactions will be more done by a wider range of various coins, rather than all BTC or BCH.

He made a video to explain what he thinks: https://steemit.com/dlive/@kabir88/1d600c80-8572-11e8-adb2-bf4283a63cb9

Video is really good, and it's a cool topic.

I disagree a bit, but love the foundation he made for thinking about this.

My disagreement is essentially a matter of degree. I believe one thing (presumably Bitcoin) will be the predominant currency, and other things and the hybrid instruments he speaks of will be a thing but more secondary and not the norm/default.

I commented on his post, so I don't really need to repeat myself here. Just click over to my comment for my own argument.

If there's one piece of my comment I'd want to emphasize, it would be this:

I think this is an interesting topic and mostly wanted to share his video, and open this up to other comments anyone has.
