Next time someone talks about Bitcoin at the bar...

1. The first decentralized digital cryptocurrency can be traced back to “Bit Gold”, which was worked on by Nick Szabo between 1998 and 2005.

2. Thailand was the first country to make Bitcoin illegal in 2013.

3. The value of Bitcoin was just 4 cents in 2010. That means as of June 2017 the value has increased by six million percent. Or to put that another way, $10 of Bitcoin would now be worth roughly $26,000.

4. In 2010, someone paid 10,000 BTC for a pizza. It was worth $30 at the time, but is now worth $27,000,000 (27 million).

5. The largest Bitcoin transaction ever recorded was 194,993 BTC.

6. In January 2014, the hack of Mt Gox was the largest in Bitcoin history. 650,000 - 850,000 BTC were lost. The second largest loss was from Bitfinex in August 2016 - they lost 119,756 BTC.

7. 2140 is the year the 21 millionth (and last) Bitcoin that will be mined.

8. Only 0.003% (250,000) of the worlds population is estimated to hold at least one Bitcoin. A survey says that apparently only 24% of people know what a Bitcoin is.

9. Girls strip for Bitcoin in the GirlsGoneBitcoin subreddit.

10. Lamborghini was the first car company to accept Bitcoin as payment for cars.
