Atari joins the crypto-currency car
The history of Atari is an authentic roller coaster in which there have usually been more descents than climbs. Now, the fans of his legacy always have the hope that he will be at the top again, and it will not be for lack of initiatives like his announced "mini-Atari". The last? The legendary pioneer in recreational and home entertainment will have its own cryptocurrency.
What is a cryptocurrency? Well, apart from being one of the fashion themes of recent years for having generated an economic boom (and sound falls) could be defined as a type of digital currency completely. And that makes it exempt from fees and certain regulations.
In fact, according to the Bloomberg media, Atari shares have experienced an interesting rise since this initiative was announced last week.
But what's the point of creating a new cryptocurrency, in this case called Atari Token, for a company dedicated to entertainment ?. Well, Atari has always expanded its possibilities and as a brand it is tremendously recognized.
The Atari Group is actively working on the identification and negotiation of additional opportunities, through the adoption of capital interests in exchange for a brand license and with very limited economic resources.
However, there is an extra purpose: along with the announcement of the Atari Token has formalized and officially confirmed that a series of casino platforms that offer game options through crypto-coins will soon be available.
This second project that is currently under development is scheduled to launch this year, offering - logically - players to bet on real money, although it will also be possible to use any type of cryptocurrency that is in circulation.
The Blockchain technology is ready to occupy a very important place in our environment and to transform, if not revolutionize, the current economic ecosystem, especially in the areas of the video game industry and online transactions.
Given our technological strengths with development studies and the global reputation of the Atari brand, we have the opportunity to position ourselves in an attractive way in this sector. Our objective is to take strategic positions with a controlled investment risk, in order to optimize the assets and the Atari brand.
As a curious note, the rapper 50 cent was found with a "small" fortune (8 million dollars) by surprise to discover the current value of bitcoins (the original cryptocurrency) with which he could pay for an album he edited in 2014.

Although this is not exactly a novelty: decades ago it was quite common to offer a specific type of currency in various arcades and theme parks. Coincidences of life, a format that has even adopted 'Overwatch' in order to obtain greater transparency in revenue.
Atari wants to return to the top and is fully aware that his legacy (and his icon) is his greatest asset today, although several of his new initiatives have caught us off guard. Moreover, not too long ago, the arrival of 'Theme Park' was pushed to Switch with a crowdfunding aimed at seeking shareholders. Let's hope that all these movements end up leading to a reinforcement -or a renewal- of its catalog of playable proposals.
